Hello Manuscript Workers,
It’s about that time of year when your brain is overloaded with to-do list items, you’re putting out end-of-semester fires every day or every hour, and you don’t have any bandwidth available for long-term projects like publishing your book.
Normally, that last thing is what I’m here to help with. But if you would like to not think about your book this week and instead enjoy watching someone else engage in a stressful, mentally taxing activity that has no real-world consequences for you, I invite you to tune in to Jeopardy! on December 5th.
I was immensely honored to be invited back to participate in the Champions Wildcard tournament, following up on my three-day appearance on the show in spring of 2021. While I turned down the first invitation I received to the tournament because it came while the show’s writers were still on strike this summer, I was overjoyed to be asked again after the strike ended in September. Fortunately the timing worked out, and you will be able to see me on your TV screen next Tuesday (the full tournament starts tonight, though).
I will be donating 10% of whatever I win to If Not Now, an organization co-founded by one of the other contestants I met during the tournament, Emma Saltzberg. Emma let me know that she will be donating to Palestine Legal so I wanted to include a link for them too.
If anyone is interested in a post about how I prepared for my return to Jeopardy! and what it was like to participate in the Champions Wildcard tournament, I’ll be happy to share the details someday. Leave a comment on this post if there’s anything you’re particularly curious about and I’ll address it in a future post (as long as it’s permitted by the NDA I signed). For now, I’ll just keep this message short and sweet and let you watch the show to see what happens.
Best wishes for your week ahead!
Congratulations! I've alerted friends in the US. Keep c-o-o-l and have fun. You can tell us later how the stress of Jeopardy! and being on (live?) TV compared to that of defending your thesis!
Yay!! Congratulations!
