I actually read Lippold's 'We are Data', and I'm sorry to say that I found it anything but accessible. The author writes: "More comprehensively, an algorithmic gender's corrupt univocality substitutes for the reflexive interplay implicit in the gender's constructionism." This is the problem with a lot of academic writing. They lose touch with what 'accessible' actually means. Apparently I'm not the only one who had issues with the style of writing. There are many great trade academic books out there that know how to bridge the gap between intelligent, accessible writing really well.
